QUINT
Orca's Maniacally Legendary Skipper
The Orca might of been remembered as just
another boat had English
actor Robert Shaw not been cast as the
stoically unforgettable captain
Quint. It was Marion Quint that set the tone as the
wisdom soaked anchor
character to the gang of three. Never one to
exit quietly, Quint would
ultimately lead Brody and Hooper on a
misbegotten one way
adventure against an unsuspectingly worthy
opponent with fins.
Quint
was on a self-destructive road to glory and
there was nobody that
could stop him...no one human. To best
describe Quint is to describe
Robert Shaw the Artist as both were
intertwined in turmoil creatively,
emotionally and later financially. It was this
set of hardships that would
ultimately and unfortunately lead to an
untimely end.
However it would
be this demise that would make M. Quint a legend
for all seasons among
folk heroes and anti-heroes alike. Robert Shaw
portrayed Quint and a
plethora of diverse character types instilling
years of acting and life
experience gained through decades of quality
fraught, hard work.
Among a
multifarious display of classic
characterizations, Quint stands alone as Shaw's
coup de'la grace; A signature piece any actor
would be proud of.
