How could you be sick of Universal, I love that company and JAWS, I've waited a long time for the release on DVD and all the sites report that its coming out this year, so I dont mind waiting and see what happens. I've already waited about 2 years so waiting another 3 months or so is nothing, time will fly by. As for JAWS rotting on the back lot, do you even know for a fact that the sharks are gone? Many people will say yes, the left to right and the right to left shark have rotted away, but did they, do you have proof??? And what about the Sea Sled? It was hanging up there at Universal Studios but then they took it down. So where did it go??? or what about the orca? No body out there seems to know... Maybe, just maybe, Universal is preparing something that will make every JAWS fan in the world go nuts about. Perhaps they want to show us a celebration we will never forget. Well, I guess we'll just have to WAIT and find out.

According to the " Edith Blake" book Orca was painted seasick green piped with stale-blood red. A guy named Peter Eldridge a boat builder and son of an architect and did it his way. It was also spray painted with dirt to simulate a real weathered look!!!! Correction on the above, Orca and Orca II were painted by Ward Wilton Original Seasick green with red piping. Pete Eldridge redesigned it because Joe Alves didn't know anything about boats at the time.

If you want it authentic looking spend another month changing it back to it's original colors ! Where the hell did you get orange and black from ? Although it sounds a lot nicer colorwise.

Michael Roddy

Hi,
My name is Michael Roddy and I work for Universal Studios Florida. I have seen both ORCAs in my travels. The Orca Two is owned by Lyn Murphy on a beach on Martha's Vineyard. It is almost destroyed. The other Orca was on the backlot of Universal Hollywood, but was never maintained. It sank in the early nineties and when they tried to pull it from the lagoon it was so rotten that it literally fell apart. There are still pieces on the lagoon bottom. The rest was thrown out onto the backlot. It is now just pieces of wood planking. I would love to help your cause. I am a huge JAWS fan. I would love an Operation Orca shirt. I am size xxl. I have some pieces of both Orcas as well as pieces of Bruce and the original buoy. My frined owns it. Please e-mail me. I think we could become fast friends. Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi There...

Thank god, at last someone would make a site about this historic vessel.
I'm a major Jaws fan, and have been this since I saw the movie at the age of six. Since then I have seen it countless times. I have just about anything about the movie in my posession - all the jaws logs - the soundtrack, laserdisk, anything with that great fish. Robert Shaw is my favorite as Quint...

Here's a couple of things I've done to show you how much I love this movie.

Me and a Robert Shaw picture..

Me and my 16 foot replica of Bruce the Shark....

Kindest regards

I actually saw the Orca at Universal Studios in 1980 during a family trip to California. Yes...there was the spray of water and the big rubber shark, gnashing its teeth at the tram car which had suddenly tilted towards the waiting monster....but even at the age of 13, I was more intrigued by the flash of the Orca as we were whisked by. The idle warrior appeared intact, except for the cheap "stage set" dock that appeared to be constructed by a designer who had never been to Martha's Vineyard...let alone seen the movie. A great deal of time has passed, and I am now a teacher in Ottawa....but above my desk is a three foot plush "pillow" Great White that hangs over me...remarkably life-like, and my collection of Jaws memories continues to grow, as every year students present me with yet another copy of Jaws, and often books on the real deal. I am glad that someone has taken up the challenge to stir up the murky bottom, and as for the shirt....I'm a large...but wait until I can help out financially. Could share a lifetime of Jaws stories....keep up the hunt...and remember: ...it took three barrels to bring him up. Wayne Simpson Ottawa, Ontario

To: Fred Subject: Orca sign-in Date: Tue, 5 Jun 2001 04:06:31 EDT I feel the Orca should be put in a museum right near the shark at Universal Studios. It had just as much a meaning as did Jaws himself. History should be beside history.

To: Fred Subject: Orca Date: Fri, 6 Jul 2001 15:48:55 EDT My name is Jennifer Bronstein and I would very much to see the Orca found and put back on display although not necessarily at Universal. I think the boat has had such a profound influence on society's downright paranoia of the great white. How many people swimming in the ocean can start swimming toward a buoy without fear setting in ala Chrissie. Instead, rescue the Orca, fix the old girl up and create an exhibition space for her at the Smithsonian alongside Archie Bunker's chair and all the other entertainment memorabilia that has/had changed our lifetime and how we live it.

Hi it's Alex-sorry i haven't spoken in a while; i've been to busy! Something for the 'point light station' thing- Why sould the Orca go to the smithstonian? It should be returned to Universal where people will know what it is and appreciate it. Does anyone know where Universal got the duplicate Orca for the Jaws ride in Florida? Just interested!! If they get it restored it would be very nice if universal refitted the cabin and let you inside! Fred- any luck with that model? Please reply! THANX
